My Philosophy

I BELIEVE...

  • All students have the right to learn and be provided an accepting and safe environment to do so

  • All students' diverse needs, be it racial, sexual, ethnic, ability, etc., should be respected and considered when planning and evaluating a school counseling program

  • That fostering the social and emotional well-being of students will promote academic development and future success

  • School counseling programs should align with best practices of the ASCA National Model, with consideration for ethics, confidentiality, and data driven program development

MY MISSION...

  • To implement a comprehensive school counseling program, applying a holistic approach to  student success

  • To advocate for the unique needs of each individual student

  • To provide a safe space for students to process difficulties as well as celebrations, in which their confidentiality will be honored (*unless there is indication of harm to self to others)

  • To collaborate with all systems within the student's life, including all school personnel, caregivers, and community members, to support the student's well-being

MY VISION...

I will provide a supportive and accepting learning environment as all students at John Adams Elementary School work to reach their greatest potential within their academic and social development. Students will graduate from Adams as productive and compassionate members of society, using their strengths to form meaningful connections and making positive impacts.
