Mrs. Lawson

On a more personal note, I spent most of my life on the east coast but, while I really miss all the freshly available seafood and beaches, Colorado just feels like "home." My small family and I love stand-up paddle-boarding, rafting, camping, fishing - pretty much anything outdoors. Cooking shows and scary movies take up whatever "free" time I can scrounge up, and trying new foods make my heart happy.

While I will be working closely with our special education students, I will also be collaborating with our school counselor, Mrs. Goodwin, on how to best instill resiliency, self-advocacy, emotional regulation, and a slew of other skills pertinent to the well-being and success of our entire student population. I'm so looking forward to connecting with all our wonderful students and their families!

Hi there!

I'm so excited to share my 2020-2021 school year at John Adams Elementary School and with its wonderful students and staff!

Within the past 15 years, I have had the privilege of working with kiddos 3 - 17 years old as a substitute teacher, a registered behavioral technician, and as a counseling intern within my Master's in Counseling program at UCCS. This will be my first year assigned to a special education team and I bring with me some experience in Applied Behavioral Analysis, my training on the principles behind Theraplay treatment, and my knowledge of grief and loss processes as an ASCA Certified Grief and Loss Specialist.
